A young rookie police detective is believed to be dead after a stakeout goes horribly wrong.  He manages to cheat death however thanks to a kind millionaire who not only saves his life but gave him a whole new identity, which was nice!

Now named Michael Knight our hero agreed to follow orders and become a secret crime fighter.  He was introduced to Devon Miles, head of Knight Industries, who was the brains behind the super-deluxe car K.I.T.T. which was not only indestructible but could talk, think and drive unaided!  Together man and machine helped lower the local crime rate.

Knight Rider was a huge Eighties hit for NBC and achieved a healthy worldwide following.  A successful TV movie called Knight Rider2000 was produced in 1991 which reunited the old cast.  Set in the year 2000, our hero comes out of retirement only to witness the death of Devon Miles!  A further movie, was made in 1994. A TV spin-off, made in 1997, called Team Knight Rider only lasted one season due to poor ratings.  A new Knight Rider movie is now in production and is due for release in 2008.

David Hasselhoff went on to star in boob-fest Baywatch as well as having a rather dodgy music career in Germany!

He's often seen on British television selling anything from Internet Broadband to Sky+ boxes.  Well it gets him out of the house doesn't it.
